Splitting away from the mainline in Dayton, the branchline takes us back to the idyllic days when trains were the main connection for towns to the big city.
Light rail and tight curves mean that not even a big steam engine will make its way down the line – the branch is typically served by SVL’s venerable 0-8-0 #103, with the occasional Geep making its way down during fruit season to haul loads of apricots out from EA Jensen’s in Fremont.
