Remembering George Delucchi 1938 – 2023

George during an ops session.

George joined SVL in 2004. He was friendly and helpful to all. He assisted the club in several ways after he joined, including serving as the club’s Treasurer for many years as well as being the caretaker of the Igo block on the layout. He had a wide range of train interests, leading to the acquisition of a variety of models of flagship passenger trains and unique freight locomotives that would grace the rails at SVL.

In addition to HO scale, George also had a ridable 7.25″ gauge steam locomotive and was a member of a local live steam club.

Well before he joined SVL he was stationed in Germany with the US Army at Checkpoint Charlie during the construction of the Berlin wall. After he left the Army he used his CPA skills eventually founding Delucchi, Hawn and Company LLP.

Outside of his professional career he was dedicated to charity, serving on the boards of many charities during his lifetime. He was also an active member of the Santa Clara rotary club.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

We will be running some of the trains he entrusted to new caretakers on Friday December 22nd at 7:30PM. Stop by if you would like to participate or watch, share stories, and have one last remembrance of our good friend George.

  1. To James, Josh, and the rest of Silcon Valley Lines, thank you for the kind words about my uncle, George. He loved his time at SVL and was proud of everyone’s collaborations. He will be missed. 😭
