Entering Tracy, we’re transported back to the 1930’s in Illinois, when rail and river were still fighting for supremacy over commerce.
The bustling metropolis of Tracy is a key location on the SVL. An extensive amount of dairy and less than carload (LCL) traffic is routed through town, and Tracy is also the destination for much of the varnish on the line. With its impressive station on the edge of the river, SVL’s passengers would be hard pressed to find a better place to stop over.
As our trains leave Tracy, they continue northward to Upton.
