Exiting the Silicon mountains, our route enters a narrow valley containing the town of Silicon, the cement capital of the SVL. A major cement plant dominates the railroad’s attention, with carloads of gravel and cement constantly being shuttled throughout the town.
Exiting Silicon takes the railroad and its crew and passengers onto the awe-inspiring High Trestle spanning Ebbetts Pass on to Tracy. Those afraid of heights need not apply (or can close their eyes – unless they’re the engineer, fireman or conductor).
